Hence, learning and having a considerable grasp of the English language will do no harm at all, but it’s all for the betterment of yourself and tops on your chances of surviving in a world brimming with teeming competitiveness.
Here is the thing and why you see certain people doing effortlessly well in English. Well for me, I would use my experiences. Having born to a family that speak the English language as their first language, it would be no big deal in using the language under and within any circumstances. It has been embedded in my foundation. I may not need to stack one on top of each other, rules on concord, grammatical syntaxes, collocations and what have you because through constant utilization and exposure to the language, I have got used to it. Why am I saying this? The reason why most people encounter difficulties in acing their English exams deals with their attitude towards learning it.
The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board Examinations (JAMB) refers to the English test as USE OF ENGLISH. This is not incidental or frivolous but it is intended to give students sitting for the examination a reason and attitude to guide them in studying for the examination.
In other words, English language becomes easier when you study it with an attitude of consciousness and having great expectations for implementing it in your everyday life and activity.
A task becomes easier when you realize its purpose and importance and work toward that. A very good friend of mine that experienced difficulties in his English exams, applied this principle, and two birds were killed with a stone. His English exam was aced exceptionally and his spoken English drastically improved consequently. Hence understanding, appreciating and applying the concepts of English language you study in your spoken English will propel your chances of ease in adapting to use of the language. All these are exemplified in checking out for new words in the dictionary, noting their word classes and the way they are used in sentences, using thesauruses, reading good English textbooks and applying the rules of what has been learnt to real life situations, practising online quizzes and in total familiarizing yourself with different online learning resource. The idea behind it all is your attitude to studying the English language. It must be sincere and productive. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE CRITICAL THINKING! YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW IT!
